Tuesday, February 25, 2020 — Seventh week of Ordinary time — Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 9, 30-37 — May the cross of the Lord be my only pride! Through it, the world is crucified for me, and I for the world.

Jesus announces explicitly His passion, his death and his resurrection, but this does not have any importance in the eyes of the disciples who are still very busy to debate abo who is going to be the greatest among them.

Jesus sets the condition for entering the kingdom of heaven: to be as a child. The child who, as we know, has little or no knowledge, but has a lot of time to learn. In the eyes of Jesus, to be great is to be humble. This is the virtue that opens the kingdom of heaven to us.

If you want to be big, then let him who wants to be big accepted to be as small as a child. It is not at all a question of being childish but of being frank and sincere without duplicity. The greatest is not the one who has power, nor the one who has the knowledge, and even less the one who has wealth, but the one who lives in all humility and who knows himself to be a sinner in the eyes of God and constantly surrenders to his mercy.

If really we want to be great, we must serve with a pure heart, without ever trying to boast. Our ability to welcome everyone without discrimination is the sign of our humility and authentic relationship with the Lord
