The parable of the vine in the Bible, especially in the Gospel, is an expression of God's love for his people. Here, Christ defines himself as being the vine, that is, "sent from God", and He commands His disciples to dwell and bear fruit in Him.

Attachment to Christ alone guarantees life for his disciples and for Christians in general. The parable of the vine and its ramifications is only a comparison, but what Christ is seeking is that we attach ourselves to Him, the Eucharist is a form of this, as well as listening to and putting into practice his word so that it may bear fruit.
