Thursday, July 16, 2020 - 15th week of Ordinary Time - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 11, 28-30 - Come to me, all you who labor under the burden, says the Lord, and I will give you rest.

The Gospel continues to show us Christ always concerned for those who suffer and those who are burdened. He gives them a special place in his heart and in his deeds. He calls them to Himself, so that He may lighten their burdens; He also calls them to learn gentleness and humility from Him and, above all, to carry the cross with Him.

Christ welcomes the poor and needy with sweet words, as opposed to harsh words for the proud and those who believe themselves to be superior to others. This means that He is ready to take our place if we entrust ourselves to Him. No doubt we would feel relieved if we face our trials with God, so let us listen to His call, let us come closer to Him so that we may have peace in our souls.
