On January 22, the church celebrates the memory of the Blessed Laura Vicuña. Born in Santiago(Chili). On April 05, 1891, daughter of a soldier and seamstress. Soon after her birth, the family had to migrate to Temuco.

After the death of the father, the mother fled to Argentina with her two daughters, Laura et Amanda. In 1900, Laura has been received in Mary Help of Christians Salesian School in Junin of Los Andes in the zone of Neuquén. The following year, she made her first communion and, like Dominic Savio, she wrote a resolution to love God with all her strength, to do penance and to die rather than sin, to make Jesus known and to make reparation for offences.

After realizing that her mother was living in a sinful situation, she offered herself to the Lord for her conversion. Don Crestanello, her first biographer, writes: "Laura suffered in secret in her heart... One day she decided to offer her life and willingly accept death in exchange for her mother's salvation. She even asked me to bless her ardent desire. I hesitated for a long time.

She continued her ascension and with the permission of her confessor, she embraced the evangelical counsels by private vows. Worn out by this life of sacrifice and illness, she died in Junin de Los Andes (Argentina) on January 22, 1904.

During her last night, Laura had confided "Mother, I am dying! I have been asking Jesus for a long time, offering my life for you, to obtain your return to God... Mother, before I die, will I have the joy of seeing you repented? On the day of Laure's funeral, her mother received the sacraments and began a new life. Her body is in the chapel of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians in Bahia Blanca (Argentina).

On 3 septembre 1988 in Becchi the mount of the Beatitudes of Youth, in the presence of thousand of Young people participating in Confronto 88,the pope john paul II beatified her and proposed to young people as model of evangelical coherence to the gift of his life for a mission of salvation.
