Congratulations to Sylvester because on this last day of the year, December 31, we celebrate Saint Sylvester. Born in 280, Sylvester is the son of Rufinus, priest and Justa, Roman citizens. His mother entrusted his education to a priest named Cyrinus.

30 December - Saint Roger was born in Cannes around the year 1060. He lived in the ravages of war due to the opposition of the Norman barons against the authority of Robert Guiscard.

29 December - Thomas Becket is born in 1117 to a wealthy family in London. With the support of his family, he was able to continue his studies in Paris. He worked with Thibaut, Archbishop of Canterbury, who sent him to Rome from 1151 to 1153 and to the schools of Bologna and Auxerre where he trained as a lawyer.

21 December - Saint Peter Canisius, also known as Peter Kanis, was born on 8 May 1521 in Nijmegen. His father, Jacob Kanis, a wealthy bourgeois, was elected nine times burgomaster of the city. He lost his mother, Ægidia van Houweningen, shortly after his birth.

Diocese of Miarinarivo

Pope Francis has accepted the renunciation of the pastoral government of the Diocese of Miarinarivo, presented by H.E. Mgr Jean Claude Randrianarisoa. At the same time, the Supreme Pontiff has appointed H.E. Mgr Marie Fabien Raharilamboniaina, as Apostolic Admnistrator sede vacante et ad nutum Sanctae Sedis of the same Diocese.

Love and Salvation

Christmas is a great joy, because it is the love of God that has come to us, proclaims Fr.
