Saturday, October 24, 2020 - 29th week of Ordinary Time - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 13, 1-9 - I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, says the Lord. Let him turn from his way, and let him live!

"One day, some people reported to Jesus". This seems to indicate a case of cockroach. Some of us are quick to denounce others, especially those who do not have the same convictions as they do. However, this can often be dangerous, especially when the person being reported to is of a primary mind. Whistleblowers are often people who want to gain a favour at the expense of others. This is an unworthy attitude. Nor does it mean that it is not necessary to denounce evil, but that it should be done honestly, for the good of all. The truth must be told without ulterior motive. Let us not be too quick to denounce, but let us be diligent in correcting one another.

On the other hand, not all disasters are ultimately the result of sin; but they may or may not be related, so let us not be quick to judge that this may also injure others. In this Gospel passage, Jesus corrects such behavior and gradually leads everyone to repentance. If we do not repent, we will all be lost. Repentance cannot be postponed; it is a daily and sustained effort. Let us cast off all wrongdoing and bring ourselves into harmony with God's will. Every moment given to us must be an opportunity for repentance. The Lord is patient with us because He does not want our loss. Therefore, let us put ourselves in the care of His mercy, so that we can bear fruit again. Amen.
