Bilharzia is a disease that exists and continues to exist, and initiatives have been put in place to combat it in 19 districts of the island through the distribution of medicines. The national event lasted 5 days, from 12 to 16 May 2025. Bilharzia, also known as schistosomiasis, is a parasitic disease caused by flatworms of the genus Schistosoma.
