Dr. Harold Roy Macaulay, Director General of Africa-Rice or the Center for Rice in Africa, visited Madagascar from June 25 to July 3. He is also Regional Director for East Africa in the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research or CGIAR...

The purpose of his trip was to strengthen cooperation between the two groups, with Madagascar in the field of production in our country. Africa-Rice has provided 8 tons of basic rice seeds to Madagascar, including Nerica 4 (four) and Arica 4. Its general manager, Dr. Harold Roy Macaulay, presented it on July 1 in Anosy, accompanied by his colleagues, after a courtesy visit to the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, on Monday June 27, 2022.

Africa-Rice also demonstrated during the presentation of the basic seeds white rice resulting from a special transformation, of good quality, namely parboiled rice, many benefits can be drawn from it, said Minister Ramilison Harifidy.

Africa-Rice has worked with farmers and is committed to supporting our rice culture through the implementation of various research results. Among other things, their support was provided to the rice development centers in Vakinakaratra, Ambohibary-Sambaina and Ankazomirihotra and in the Bas-Mangoky plain.
