Vermicompost has been used in Madagascar for many years. It is used as a fertiliser for organic agricultural production. Among those using this fertiliser is the ‘Lanja Miakatra’ association. The association's founder Ranaivoarison Basile, Papa Bio, shared his knowledge and experience on the subject.
There are three stages in production," explains Papa Bio. The first is to prepare their food. The second is introducing the worms into the pine trees, where they are reared, and the third is preparing the manure from them. Producing vermicompost is simple but requires control and practice, so it can be done by any farmer.
There are many advantages to using worm manure, as Papa Bio explains. Firstly, the natural constituents it contains are essential for plants, and are suitable for all types of plant. Secondly, worm manure fights parasites. Thirdly, the availability of organic products using it, which are good for your health.
In economic terms, the market for organic products is in strong demand, not only locally but also on the international market. The price of the product is also good, which is much higher than the product using the input containing the chemical element.
Worms from California in the USA, a genus of Eugenia, and the strongest eating worms from existing worms will be bred. The worms consume the same amount of food that they themselves consume the same amount of manure that they produce
