"The cry of the earth and the cry of the poor cannot continue," says Pope Francis, who invites us to celebrate the "Laudato Si'" week from May 16 to 24, 2020. At this extraordinary moment, Catholics throughout the world are uniting to reflect, pray and prepare together for a better future.

"We come together in faith to seek the common good and build a better world," the Holy Father said. On the fifth anniversary of the publication of the encyclical 'Laudato Si', he urges parishes and communities to deepen their commitment and find solutions to ecological problems by referring to this encyclical.

Everyone can mark this event, individually or in groups, communities, families, parishes or institutions. The "Laudato Si'" Week is organized by the Dicastery for the Service of Integral Human Development and the World Catholic Climate Movement and Renova+, as follows :

16-23 May: Formations and workshops, Learning and development through online discussions. Links to participate are available on the calendar, click here.

24 May: World Day of Prayer, Join Catholics around the world in prayer at 12 noon local time using this prayer.

It is in this context that the Pope will visit the Terra dei Fuochi, an area between Naples and Caserta, on Sunday 24 May, where toxic waste and uncontrolled incineration have ravaged this once beautiful and prosperous land.
