Wednesday February 24, 2021 - First week of Lent - Now, says the Lord, come back to me with all your heart, for I am tender and merciful - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 11, 29-32

A large crowd gathered around Jesus. It is neither because of a cataclysm nor an accident but it is the passage of Jesus, the Son of God, which makes the crowd gather. He teaches and performs miracles that people hasten, leaving Him no rest. In this time of Lent, let us come to Jesus, let us come to Him because He never ceases to teach us. Let's stop finding pretexts to get away from Him. Being too busy, or totally absorbed in the grind of daily life, is no excuse for forgetting God. Remember that the time and the work belong to the Lord, so why not give them back to Him? Already, walking with God, we are struggling with difficulty, what if we deviate from Him? Let us note that God is omnipresent, He never leaves us neither in difficult times nor in good days, it is we who tend to leave him; impatient and unruly, we are only interested in the immediate and the sensitive. So let's not wait for moments of distress to come back to Him, every moment is opportune, let's take advantage of this time of Lent: let's make it a priority.

Then the words of Jesus: "This generation is an evil generation", also apply to us as long as we persist in our sins and our folly; not only to God and to ourselves or to those around us, but also to the ever-changing environment that keeps getting worse. We are often victims of our own actions, we destroy and pollute the environment to complain about the consequences. Let us remember that God made all of his creatures to be interdependent and complementary, including us humans; so we must realize it and repent. From the time of Jesus until today, look for signs for them; whereas Jesus is already the great sign of salvation among us: He manifests it every day in the Eucharist, by his word in our daily life, but often we do not realize this presence. He is eminently greater than Jonah or Solomon, so why seek someone other than Him? Everything comes from Him; for Him and in Him everything has been done, it would be a shame to want to separate from Him. Amen.
