In the 19th century, the society of Jesus played an important role in the progress of evangelism in Madagascar. The most memorable names of the French Jesuit missionaries were Frs. Dalmond, Jouen, Cazet, Finaz. In spite of the difficulties encountered by the conflicts between the British and the French, the competition between Catholicism and Protestantism which was the religion of the State at the time, the number of Catholic Christians did not stop growing thanks to the efforts of Jesuit and Lasallian missionaries who were illuminated by the Holy Spirit. Diocese of Miarinarivo
Pope Francis has accepted the renunciation of the pastoral government of the Diocese of Miarinarivo, presented by H.E. Mgr Jean Claude Randrianarisoa. At the same time, the Supreme Pontiff has appointed H.E. Mgr Marie Fabien Raharilamboniaina, as Apostolic Admnistrator sede vacante et ad nutum Sanctae Sedis of the same Diocese.
