The passion of Jesus is near, only a few weeks are left and it will be Holy Week, a time to turn to the mystery of the passion, the death of Jesus and His resurrection, the basis of our faith. Discussions about Jesus himself, his origin and his divinity are still going on. The Jews focused so much on a Messiah, a mystery, of unknown origin that they could no longer recognize in Jesus the Nazarene, the Christ Saviour. They were too hampered by the written word, too rooted in tradition.

Jesus clearly announces himself as the one sent by God. He does so in the Temple, the place of encounter with God. Normally, this should have been the privileged moment for the Jews to believe in Jesus. It should have been the ideal occasion for everyone to receive Jesus, but instead it ended with an arrest. We Christians do not disappoint God, do not abuse his trust. He is waiting for us, especially this Lent, let us go out to meet him.
