24th Sunday of the Year: Suffering has value; I will call you friends, says the Lord; for I have told you all that I have heard from my Father. The nature of the servants of God will be shown in the first reading, which is written in the book of Isaiah the prophet: this reading is one of the songs of the servants of God. The servant of God is a model and exemplary person. The way in which Jesus showed himself to be Christ is by offering himself, the mystery of Easter: suffering, death, resurrection...
23rd Sunday of the Year - B: Love, the Lord does not discriminate; Open our hearts, Lord, so that we may obey the words of your Son. The opening hymn expresses God's love and He does not discriminate: You are just, Lord, and your judgements are just. According to your kindness, your servant will be treated. Before the Lord, all men are equal, as it is written in James 2:5: Listen, my beloved brother: has not God chosen the poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith, and to inherit the kingdom he has promised to those who love him? Many people are oppressed by hardship and cannot socialise with others, many are victims of stigmatisation...
Letter of Saint Paul to the Ephesians (Eph 4: 1-7, 11-13)
Brothers and sisters:
I, a prisoner for the Lord,
urge you to live in a manner worthy of the call you have received,
with all humility and gentleness, with patience,
bearing with one another through love,
striving to preserve the unity of the Spirit
through the bond of peace:
one Body and one Spirit,
as you were also called to the one hope of your call;
one Lord, one faith, one baptism;
one God and Father of all,
who is over all and through all and in all.
But grace was given to each of us
according to the measure of Christ's gift.
And he gave some as Apostles, others as prophets,
others as evangelists, others as pastors and teachers,
to equip the holy ones for the work of ministry,
for building up the Body of Christ,
until we all attain to the unity of faith
and knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood,
to the extent of the full stature of Christ.

Ps 19: 2-3, 4-5
The heavens declare the glory of God;
and the firmament proclaims his handiwork.
Day pours out the word to day,
and night to night imparts knowledge.
Not a word nor a discourse
whose voice is not heard;
Through all the earth their voice resounds,
and to the ends of the world, their message.
Alleluia, alleluia.
We praise you, O God, we acclaim you as Lord; the glorious company of Apostles praise you.
Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew (Mt 9: 9-13)
As Jesus passed by,
he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the customs post.
He said to him,
“Follow me.”
And he got up and followed him.
While he was at table in his house,
many tax collectors and sinners came
and sat with Jesus and his disciples.
The Pharisees saw this and said to his disciples,
“Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
He heard this and said,
“Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do.
Go and learn the meaning of the words,I desire mercy, not sacrifice.
I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.”

The First Letter of Saint Paul to the Corinthians (1 Cor 15: 12-20)
Brothers and sisters:
If Christ is preached as raised from the dead,
how can some among you say there is no resurrection of the dead?
If there is no resurrection of the dead,
then neither has Christ been raised.
And if Christ has not been raised, then empty too is our preaching;
empty, too, your faith.
Then we are also false witnesses to God,
because we testified against God that he raised Christ,
whom he did not raise if in fact the dead are not raised.
For if the dead are not raised, neither has Christ been raised,
and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is vain;
you are still in your sins.
Then those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished.
If for this life only we have hoped in Christ,
we are the most pitiable people of all.
But now Christ has been raised from the dead,
the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
— The word of the Lord.
Ps 17: 1bcd, 6-7, 8b and 15
Hear, O LORD, a just suit;
attend to my outcry;
hearken to my prayer from lips without deceit.
I call upon you, for you will answer me, O God;
incline your ear to me; hear my word.
Show your wondrous mercies,
O savior of those who flee
from their foes to refuge at your right hand.
Hide me in the shadow of your wings,
But I in justice shall behold your face;
on waking, I shall be content in your presence.
Alleluia, alleluia.
Blessed are you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth; you have revealed to little ones the mysteries of the Kingdom.
Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke (Lk 8: 1-3)
Jesus journeyed from one town and village to another,
preaching and proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom of God.
Accompanying him were the Twelve
and some women who had been cured of evil spirits and infirmities,
Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out,
Joanna, the wife of Herod’s steward Chuza,
Susanna, and many others
who provided for them out of their resources.
