Dear Christians! Adopting the attitudes of the believer that Jesus teaches us requires faith, that is what we are first asked for when we pray. In this Lenten season we are asked to convert because it is the only assurance we have that we will obtain the kingdom of heaven. Conversion requires faith, that is the main message of today's Gospel. Jesus emphasizes the need to believe independently of external signs.

When it is unbelief and hatred that fills a man's heart, as seen here among Jesus' listeners, they always ask for signs before believing. In our daily life, many demagogic discourses have no impact, so even in the spiritual realm we demand that there be sensitive proofs. Although there were signs and wonders from Jesus which He performed in public before the Jewish people, they were always reluctant to believe, the disciples themselves often doubted.
