January 19, 2024 — Friday, Second Week in Ordinary Time — God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation — Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark (Mk 3: 13-19)
The elderly have no freedom: they are asked to stay at home so as not to disrupt the community. There's a way of thinking that the elderly disrupt development, that they're incapable of keeping up with the flow of development, that they have no vision of life. January 18, 2024 — Thursday, Second Week in Ordinary Time — Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life to light through the Gospel — Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark (Mk 3: 7-12)
Elders educate the young by sharing their life experiences. There is a perception that the elderly are an obstacle to freedom, an economic burden, especially in terms of food and medical care when they are ill.
