September 19 - On Saturday, September 19, 1846, at about 3 p.m., on a mountain near the village of La Salette-Fallavaux, two young shepherds, Mélanie Calvat, just under fifteen years old, and Maximin Giraud, eleven years old, see a "beautiful lady" in tears appearing in a resplendent light and addressing them.

September 18 - Born into a wealthy Roman family, she raised her three daughters in the religion of Christ and the fear of God. The Greek names of her three daughters, Pistis, Elpis and Agapi, have been translated into French and Russian: they are respectively Faith (or Vera), Hope (or Nadège) and Charity (or Liouba).

September 17 - Robert Bellarmin, born in Montepulciano in Tuscany (Italy) on October 4, 1542, came from a rich and numerous Tuscan family. Robert was the son of Vincenzo Bellarmino. His mother Cinthia Cervini was the sister of Cardinal Marcello Cervini, future Pope Marcel II.

16 September - Cornelius became the twenty-first pope and succeeded Fabian, 14 months after the latter's death on January 20, 250. After Fabian's death, the persecution of Emperor Decius was so violent that Christians in Rome had to wait more than a year to elect a new bishop.

Love and Salvation

Christmas is a great joy, because it is the love of God that has come to us, proclaims Fr. Bizimana Innocent, Provincial Superior of the Salesians Don Bosco of Madagascar and Mauritius, presenting his Christmas greetings. Salvation is accomplished, so life is not in danger of disappearing.
