September 19 - On Saturday, September 19, 1846, at about 3 p.m., on a mountain near the village of La Salette-Fallavaux, two young shepherds, Mélanie Calvat, just under fifteen years old, and Maximin Giraud, eleven years old, see a "beautiful lady" in tears appearing in a resplendent light and addressing them.

The Greek names of her three daughters, Pistis, Elpis and Agapi, have been translated into French and Russian: they are respectively Faith (or Vera), Hope (or Nadège) and Charity (or Liouba).

September 17 - Robert Bellarmin, born in Montepulciano in Tuscany (Italy) on October 4, 1542, came from a rich and numerous Tuscan family. Robert was the son of Vincenzo Bellarmino. His mother Cinthia Cervini was the sister of Cardinal Marcello Cervini, future Pope Marcel II.
