We encourage all Christians to sympathise and pray for our nation as it faces this turning point, and for the common good. Much blood has been shed and lives lost since 1972, so we call for peace for all. We call on everyone to uphold justice and respect values. We need to be able to listen to each other and discuss ideas.

September 27th is the feast day of Saint Vincent de Paul, the island's second patron saint, who was a protector and an example of charity. He was only 19 years old and already a priest. Charity is the character of God that Saint Vincent de Paul lived. Pope Francis is one of those who live this love for the poor, and he has even written a document in which he talks about the Church and poverty, entitled "Evangelii Gaudium".
