Saturday, June 27, 2020 - Twelfth week of Ordinary Time - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 8, 5-17 - Christ took our sufferings, he bore our diseases.

The point of this Gospel is the faith of the centurion. This one, in inviting Jesus to speak a word of healing, presents himself as unworthy and believes that the word of Jesus can surely heal, even from a distance. Those who must have this faith are the Jews; for they are the heirs of the Kingdom, as a people who possess the promise. But the latter refuse to recognize that it is in Jesus that God visited the world, the expected Messiah. That is why Jesus said, "the children of the kingdom will be driven out into the outer darkness".

Only believers, such as this centurion, will be able to sit at table with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the Kingdom of Heaven.
