Monday, October 26, 2020 - 30th semester of Ordinary Time - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 13, 10-17 - Your word, Lord, is truth; in this truth sanctify us.
The Word of God today shows us how to find happiness. Saint Paul, in his exhortation to the Ephesians, reveals to us the first secret: to put on the new man. To put on the new man is to replace wickedness with goodness. This is God's goodness, Christ's goodness. This goodness is incompatible with impurity and selfishness.
The psalmist exhorts us to be pleasing in God's Law, that is, to find pleasure in observing God's Law if we want happiness. Observance of this Law requires that we do not follow ungodly advice. Neither should observance of God's Law lead us into the religious formalism of the religious leader, quoted in today's Gospel, because this religious formalism will prevent us from grasping God's will, makes us superficial and even blind to the manifestation of God's liberating love towards this bent woman. True observance of God's Law consists in freeing people from the power of evil and setting them free even on the Sabbath day, so that they can give glory to God as Jesus did.
