08 May - Désiré was born in March 512 in Sancy (Seine-et-Marne) into a family of the high aristocratic Frankish family. He is a high official of the kings Clotaire and Childebert, son of Clovis, with the title of chancellor or keeper of the royal seal.

In 538, he succeeds to Arcade de Bourges as Archbishop of Bourges. During his episcopate, he took part in several councils. In 549, he attended the fifth council of Orleans, where we recall the condemnation of the heresies of Nestorius (two persons in Christ: one divine, one human) and Eutyches (Christ possesses only the divine nature), one of which was solemnly condemned by the council of Ephesus in 431, the other by the council of Chalcedon in 451. He died on the return from the Second Council of Clermont (also called the Concluded of Auvergne), held by ten bishops where the canons of the Council of Orleans were adopted.

 

He died on 08 May 550. In Belgium, he is the patron of the weavers of Liège and the patron of the parish of Latine, in Hesbaye.

Diocese of Miarinarivo

Pope Francis has accepted the renunciation of the pastoral government of the Diocese of Miarinarivo, presented by H.E. Mgr Jean Claude Randrianarisoa. At the same time, the Supreme Pontiff has appointed H.E. Mgr Marie Fabien Raharilamboniaina, as Apostolic Admnistrator sede vacante et ad nutum Sanctae Sedis of the same Diocese.

Love and Salvation
